Through trial and error, and a lot of mistake - we learn and grow. 2012. WHAT.A.YEAR.
Our first child, Charlotte, started prep. That for me, apart from both our children entering the world, was up there as one of the most emotional and trying times in my life. On the flip side, she loves school, and is proving to be quite the little scientist and mathematician.
Next year, it's our baby, Harrison's - his turn to start prep. Yes, yes. I will need to invest in a LOT of Kleenex.
On the business side of things, we shot close to 30 weddings. I decided to pull back, and refine my style, thus the decision was made to solely shoot weddings. Weddings for me, are raw. It's real. It happens only once. We are lucky to find that one special person in life, and even luckier to celebrate it with family and friends - and I love being there to record that, so you have it forever.
It's an honor to be involved in people's lives and entrusted with something so important and monumental. It just doesn't get any better.
I have also taken on a second shooter, her name is Tracey. She recently got engaged, like, 2 days ago - I hope I get to shoot that wedding :) I have also taken on an assistant, who has made a few blog appearances here and there. Being able to teach is also another love for me.
And .. then there is the whole re branding thing. After almost 5 years within the industry, I am at a level where I am happy, more then happy - to call myself a professional photographer. I have read countless books and websites, stalked a few thousand blogs for inspiration, and refined my style. I have come to learn the essence of quality, not quantity, allowing me to produce a high level product.
I have met along the way, some trying people, and some fabulous people. I have formed strong bonds with a few amazing individuals, both clients and colleagues, and for that, internets, I am truly thankful. I have traveled to some spectacular places, gotten lost, and re found my way.
.. So, 2012, I thank you for all the experiences and lessons you have helped me learn, and developed me into the person I am today. 2012 was definitely a year for trials and tribulations.
BRING.ON.2013.
(and a picture - cos blog posts are cooler with pics ..)
